Our tester Claire was impressed by the neat, easy-to-open packaging and deemed it to be one of the fastest and easiest pieces of baby gear to put together. She took it for a spin around some rough terrain and was thrilled with its performance.

Seats

Most 3 wheel travel system wheel double buggies begin life as single pushchairs, but some can convert to take the seat of a second person or carrycot by converting adapters (these are more commonly found in tandem buggies). Some models allow you to add an additional board for older children who are able to walk but need some help.

Take a look at the Joie Evalite Duo for an ultra-lightweight option that is perfect for urban streets. It's easy to move and comes with a large basket that has plenty of storage space. It can be used to accommodate twins from birth and accept two car seats or a carrycot and seat. The seats must face towards the front and there is no room to store bags of groceries under the seat. You will require an extra sidepack.

Mountain Buggy Duet will be an ideal choice if you enjoy off-road driving. It's a side by side with the slimmest footprint of any double buggy on the market. This makes it easier to pass through doors with narrow openings and on public transport, and enables you to climb up and down kerbs without much trouble. It also has a handbrake that is attached to the handlebar that can be adjusted for more security and safety.

Another option that is light weight is the UPPAbaby Vista 2 Double, which can be used for twins or a baby and toddler. The seats can be reclining in multiple positions with UPF 50plus sunshades. The canopy can be adjusted so that the sun doesn't touch your child's eyes. The Vista 2 can be converted into a triple by adding UPPAbaby’s 'PiggyBack’ board for older children.

The iCandy Orange is one of the most popular double buggies that are available due to its outstanding comfort. It's an all-terrain pushchair with a soft suspension that makes light work of bumpy surfaces. It can accommodate up to 30 seating configurations and has a built-in ride-on board for older kids who prefer walking plus a 'cinema seating' mode that raises the back of the seat for better visibility.

Alternatively, the phil&teds dot is a fantastic single buggy from day 1 that is able to easily be adapted to take 2 (or 3 wheel baby stroller!) different configurations. This is particularly useful if you have a baby in your car. The frame can be adapted to a wedgie that allows for the best lie-flat position. Also, car seat adapters that can be used with many brands.

Suspension

The quality of the suspension in a triple buggy is essential to how it is easy for you and your baby/s to push. It is essential to enjoy a smooth ride since babies feel every bump in the road. This is especially the case if you're driving on rough terrain, such as grass or roads that aren't paved. Some models have locking front tires to help maneuver and get over obstacles like curbs.

Some models come with air-filled tyres, which provide a fantastic all-terrain ride, but can be prone to punctures therefore, make sure you have spares in the trunk. Others have foam or gel tyres, designed to take the bumps and are less susceptible to punctures, however, you may find them to be a bit stiff and uncomfortable on your child's back should you choose to jog.

MFM reviewer Kath tested the Urban Glide 2 through its paces with her infant and three years old son, and found it performed admirably on difficult terrain: "it navigated effortlessly over grass and bumpy pavements cobbles, dirt tracks and cobbles with ease and was easy to manoeuvre around corners and get up and down kerbs. The 16" rear wheels, coupled with the lockable swivel wheels on the front, make it a very safe jogging experience. The Urban Glide 2 is loaded with features too with a large basket with a zip-top cover, large cushioned seat unit with 50+ UV hood, and game-changing lights that are simple to use and recharge.

Folding

A three-wheel double buggy can be folded up in a neat manner to be stored. There are models that fold flat, stand up (as though they were in the shape of a pushchair) and also are able to open up to reveal more umbrella-style folding, with the option of a hand-operated break. The more wheels the buggy has, in general, the easier it is to maneuver through rough terrain. This is particularly true if your wheels are bigger than the average size. If you're looking to jog with your children it is the best double buggie for jogging because it has a lockable swivel front wheel that will help you stay in control when tackling hilly or off-road tracks. It comes with a huge undercarriage, a movable handlebar, and soft suspension for an enjoyable ride.

This is a light compact and compact option that is easy to fold with just one hand. It's ideal for traveling. It's compatible with a broad selection of infant car seats and has a handy pull-out undercarriage basket that can be used to store shopping. It's a bit on the expensive side but does have some distinctive features that make it an excellent price, including its simple one-click fold, and numerous extras, such as a bumper bar and raincover.

Storage

Many people are amazed by the capacity of storage offered by a 3 wheel running buggy - you can try Google - wheel double buggy. Certain models, such as the Roma Atlas, have a large basket, as well as two zip pockets on the hood that you can keep your keys and phone.
